Nation's Tallest Building Planned for Oklahoma City

According to plans, Legends Tower will dominate the OKC skyline at 1,907 ft (a deliberate nod to the year Oklahoma became the 46th state). That's more than double the current tallest building in Oklahoma City, the 50 story Devon Tower which stands at 844 ft. Legends Tower will have 134 floors towering over a new development known as The Boardwalk At Brick Town. Designed by AO Architecture, the planned location of the project would be at the corner of Reno and Oklahoma Avenues.

According to Scott Matteson of Matteson Capitol, a California based real estate development firm, funding has been secured for the 1.5 billion dollar project. Matteson anticipates breaking ground as early as June, and commencing construction on two of the towers this summer. The entire development is projected to be completed within 30 months.

The proposed development will include three adjoining towers, at least one of which will be 34 stories. The property will also feature a lagoon, boardwalk, restaurants, retailers, and a community workforce development center on the street and second levels.

Observation and dining at 134 stories

The Legends Tower will be a combination of Hyatt Hotel and Residences with 1,017 luxury apartments, 99 condos, 48 lower rent apartments and 350 hotel rooms. The top floors will feature a public observatory in addition to a restaurant and bar.

The Hyatt Dream Tower will have an additional 480 hotel rooms and 85 condominiums.

A third tower will contain 576 market rate apartments, and 140 lower rent apartments.

Once The Boardwalk At Bricktown is completed, it will double the number of units of available housing in the downtown area.

Legends Tower, the centerpiece of The Boardwalk At Bricktown, will be the tallest building in the US, and the 5th tallest in the world (6th without the mast).

Currently the tallest US buildings are : One World Trade Center in New York at 1,368 ft (1,776 with crowning mast), and the Willis Tower (aka Sears Tower) in Chicago at 1,451 ft (1,730 with twin antennas).

The Empire State Building in New York which was the world's tallest building from 1931 to 1970, will move from 9th to 10th in US after Legends' completion.
