Gas Prices Dip Below $3 For The First Time Since January
The price of gas has fallen below $3 per gallon in Texas for the first time since January, according to AAA Texas. The statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is now $2.97, with prices falling as low as $2.75 in some areas.
Market analysts attribute the falling pump prices to sinking oil prices, with West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) currently at $80 a barrel – its lowest price since the beginning of the year.
This is good news for Texans planning to travel over Thanksgiving, with 4 million expected to travel at least 50 miles away from home. Of those, 3.6 million will be driving.
