[ Nationwide ] - Aggeliki Psoni has carved a distinctive career that seamlessly blends the worlds of law and music. Born and raised in Athens, Greece, and based in New York, she is both an attorney and a vocalist, integrating Greek folk influences with jazz, blues, soul, funk, and Latin music. Her ability to navigate two demanding professions simultaneously sets her apart, demonstrating a unique combination of discipline, passion, and perseverance.
Psoni recalls singing ever since she was a young girl. Her musical journey began at the age of seven with classical piano, which holds a special place in her heart and which she continued studying throughout her college years. At 15, she moved to the United States to pursue her academic endeavors in international relations and law. She graduated on the Dean’s List at Boston University before earning her Juris Doctor from CUNY School of Law, a leading institution for public interest law. She has since built a legal career focusing on real estate, business law, estate planning, and civil litigation while maintaining a powerful presence in the music industry.
Her legal work has been recognized with notable accolades, including being named a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers in 2024 and receiving the Greek America Foundation’s "Top 40 Under Forty" award for her professional achievements. She is an advocate for gender justice and human rights, having worked with the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, and Colombia. Psoni is also a member of the Inspiring Women in Law League (IWILL) and volunteers as a radio producer for the Hellenic Public Radio of New York, Cosmos FM.
At the same time, she continues to develop her music career, recording original music, performing internationally, and collaborating with esteemed artists. She has shared the stage with Grammy-winning vocalist Jon Secada and worked with renowned Greek poet Lina Nikolakopoulou, as well as popular Greek vocalists. Recently, she was invited to perform at the International Jazz Festival in Havana, Cuba, where she sang in Greek and Spanish, a testament to her dedication to cultural exchange through music.
Her upcoming album, Troublemaker, reflects her passion for storytelling through song, with a mix of original compositions in Greek and English alongside selected French, Spanish, and Italian favorites. The title track, Troublemaker, is a bold anthem addressing double standards and female empowerment, mirroring her commitment to challenging societal norms through her work. Additionally, her brand-new single I Wasn’t Planning This is a Latin and Greek flavored original set to be released at the end of March, followed by a series of live performances.
Psoni's music has received airplay on WBGO, a leading jazz station in the U.S., and she has been featured on the cover of Neo Magazine and All About Jazz, as well as on radio programs both domestically and internationally. Beyond performing, she is the founder of Nefeli Productions LLC, an entertainment company dedicated to curating live music experiences.
Her dual career is a testament to resilience and self-determination. “People are eager to tell you their opinions of what you can and cannot do, but you can and should create your own reality exactly as you envision it,” she reflects. By maintaining a strong connection to her Greek roots while embracing her American experience, she embodies the power of perseverance and cultural fusion.
Her story, one of unwavering commitment to interdisciplinary growth, is an inspiration to those who believe in pursuing their passions, no matter how divergent and unusual they may seem. Whether in the courtroom or on stage, Psoni continues to defy expectations and create space for herself in both worlds.
