Blessed Is Her Name: Barbara Oleynick Releases Multilingual Audiobook Celebrating Marian Devotion
Nationwide (USANews) Barbara J. Oleynick, author and composer, has announced the release of Blessed Is Her Name - The History and Divine Life of the Virgin Mary - a multilingual audiobook and FREE PDF narrative inspired by centuries of Marian devotion. Drawing creative influence from The Mystical City of God, a 16th-century text by Sister Mary of Jesus of Ágreda, the new publication is now available in six languages, with more translations in development. The project marks a significant contribution to faith-inspired literature and cross-cultural accessibility. Over twenty-five years in the making, Blessed Is Her Name originated as a screenplay following Oleynick’s introduction to Sister Mary of Agreda’s writings. Reimagined for a global audience, the work honors traditional perspectives on the Virgin Mary while offering a contemporary format for spiritual reflection and storytelling. Oleynick, an M.F.A. graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, previously developed The Miracle of Fatima. This musical toured widely and drew upon both religious history and artistic expression. Her new audiobook expands this tradition, combining prose narrative with multilingual accessibility. Each edition includes a free downloadable PDF, and the English version is personally narrated by Oleynick. A network of international collaborators contributed to the translated editions, reinforcing the project’s universal theme: the enduring resonance of Marian devotion. The narrative focuses on the Virgin Mary’s role in spiritual history, as interpreted through Oleynick’s creative lens and theological research. Select passages highlight themes of maternal protection, peace, and the perseverance of love. While grounded in historical inspiration, the story emphasizes personal reflection, inviting listeners to engage with its themes in a way that aligns with their own beliefs. Oleynick describes the project as deeply personal, shaped by both artistic discipline and lived experience. She shares that a pivotal moment in 1999 led her to begin writing the original screenplay—a process that has evolved into a life-spanning creative journey. Following personal loss, including the death of her son John, Oleynick found renewed meaning in her work and continued her mission to share stories rooted in hope, resilience, and spiritual continuity. Accompanying the audiobook is a song titled “Through You He Lives,” composed during the development of The Miracle of Fatima. The piece reflects the central message of the project: that art can serve as a conduit for comfort and meaning. The work is available through www.themotherofgod.org, with additional updates and community engagement through the Facebook page Blessed is Her Name.
