Albany, NY – APRIL 2025 - (USAnews.com) – The EMS Leadership Academy has announced a strategic partnership with the National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA), marking a significant milestone in advancing leadership excellence within Emergency Medical Services (EMS). This collaboration brings together two organizations committed to empowering EMS leaders and fostering professional growth in the field.
The partnership is designed to expand access to leadership education, support career advancement, and uphold the highest standards of excellence within EMS. Over the past two years, the EMS Leadership Academy has worked closely with NEMSMA to ensure that all of its leadership education programs meet the high standards set by NEMSMA’s American College of Paramedic Executives (ACPE). One of the Academy’s flagship initiatives, the EMS Leadership Summit, is a free virtual conference that has reached over 17,000 participants across 44 countries since its inception in 2019. By integrating NEMSMA’s certification standards, the partnership ensures that summit participants can earn Continuing Leadership Education (CLE) credits, contributing to voluntary professional certifications offered by NEMSMA and the ACPE.

Certification Opportunities for EMS Leaders
As part of this collaboration, EMS leaders will have the opportunity to pursue Paramedic Officer Certification through NEMSMA’s ACPE. These voluntary certifications provide a structured pathway for professional growth and validation of leadership skills. The certification levels include:
Supervising Paramedic Officer (SPO)
Managing Paramedic Officer (MPO)
Executive Paramedic Officer (FACPE) (Fellow of the College of Paramedic Executives)
These credentials recognize the knowledge, skills, and attributes essential for effective leadership in EMS and offer a framework for career progression. Developed by experts from across the EMS community, the certification process is rigorous and designed to promote continued professional development.
