Mindful Village® Introduces Holistic, Neurodivergent-Affirming Parenting Program Rooted In Science And Compassion

[ Nationwide ] - Mindful Village® has announced the relaunch of its signature eight-week secular, on-demand parenting program, specifically designed for caregivers of neurodivergent children. The program, originally launched five years ago, has been restructured to address the evolving needs of families by spanning the developmental range from toddlerhood to young adulthood. Central to the revised program is a commitment to a neurodivergent-affirming paradigm that integrates mindfulness, neuroscience, positive psychology, and compassion, while emphasizing a low-demand parenting approach.

Founded by Dr. Rabia Subhani, a pediatric neuropsychologist with over three decades of experience in the field of autism and a personal connection to neurodivergence, Mindful Village® is more than a resource—it is a reflection of both professional insight and lived experience. Drawing from her dual perspective as a clinician and as a neurodivergent parent of a neurodivergent young adult, Dr. Subhani created the program she once wished existed for her own family. Her aim was to develop a comprehensive, evidence-informed parenting model that is both accessible and transformative.

Mindful Village® distinguishes itself through a unique integration of four foundational disciplines: mindfulness, compassion, neuroscience, and positive psychology. Each component is chosen not only for its clinical relevance, but also for its practicality in everyday parenting. The program moves beyond traditional behavioral strategies by encouraging a low-demand, connection-centered approach that supports both child and parent well-being. Its neurodivergent-affirming stance ensures that children’s experiences are understood and valued rather than pathologized.

The program is accessible entirely online, providing a viable alternative to families who may lack the time, energy, or financial resources to enroll in multiple separate evidence-based courses. This model ensures that even those in remote locations or with limited access to conventional resources can still benefit from quality, specialized guidance. Its affordability compared to weeks or months of separate training courses makes it a valuable option for many families navigating the complexities of neurodivergent parenting.

Participants gain eight weeks of access to a private parenting community led by Dr. Subhani, where live sessions include meditations, somatic practices, and Q&A interactions. The online community is also open to individuals who may wish to join without enrolling in the full program, offering ongoing support and engagement. This sense of community creates a safe, affirming space for learning, healing, and shared experience.

Dr. Subhani’s personal story is foundational to Mindful Village®. After introducing mindfulness into her son’s life as early as 2007, she experienced a pivotal transformation in 2012–2013 following a series of significant life changes. These included her separation, transitioning to working from home to care for her son, and a deepening spiritual journey. It was during this period that she began practicing mindfulness for herself, leading to what she describes as a profound shift in her worldview. Her desire to align her personal and professional life with mindfulness and compassion inspired the creation of Mindful Village®.

Her extensive training credentials reflect a commitment to both academic rigor and practical wisdom. Dr. Subhani trained at Emory University in Atlanta and Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami. She is a certified mindfulness/meditation teacher via a two year program with Drs. Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield, and has also received additional training in Mindful Self-Compassion with Drs. Kristin Neff and Chris Germer. Her additional certifications include tai chi and qigong, as well as the MYMind program for neurodivergent children and their families with Dr. Susan Bögels from the University of Amsterdam.

Mindful Village® is a culmination of these influences, shaped not only by clinical expertise but by personal evolution. As a parent, Dr. Subhani sought tools that would deepen connection with her child while honoring neurodivergent needs. As a professional, she recognized the gap in available programs that fully integrated both evidence-based practices and affirming values. Her response was to develop a solution that speaks to the reality of parenting in a neurodivergent family.

“Somewhere along my journey, I realized that I, too, was neurodivergent—an ADHDer with sensory processing differences—which was so validating,” said Dr. Subhani. “I would love to share my newfound peace and joy of living, whether someone is a neurodivergent adult seeking answers, the parent of a neurodivergent child struggling to connect, or simply an individual on their own spiritual path.”

The redesigned Mindful Village® program affirms and supports not only children, but also the adults raising them. Its design recognizes that many caregivers are neurodivergent themselves and often face unique challenges. Through its emphasis on healing, empowerment, and relational connection, the program creates space for whole-family transformation.

Rather than centering compliance-based strategies or behavior correction models, Mindful Village® focuses on connection, empathy, and mutual understanding. The program encourages caregivers to observe and relate to their children through a lens of compassion and curiosity, informed by neuroscience and supported by mindfulness techniques. This balanced approach promotes sustainable change and fosters environments in which neurodivergent children can thrive without being molded to neurotypical norms.

The program's availability in an online format increases accessibility across geographic and financial barriers. It enables caregivers to move at their own pace and return to materials as needed, making it especially adaptable to families with varying schedules and support systems. In addition, the community component fosters a sense of belonging and shared growth, particularly important for those who may feel isolated in their parenting journey.

Mindful Village® has found its niche not by mimicking existing parenting models but by carving a distinct path rooted in lived experience and compassionate science. Its emphasis on healing, empowerment, and family-wide growth positions it as a meaningful alternative to traditional therapeutic or educational interventions. For many families, it represents not only a resource but a philosophical shift—one that honors both the child’s needs and the parent’s humanity.
