Oklahoma Smoke BBQ: A Barbecue Journey Rooted in Tradition and Community
Oklahoma Smoke BBQ February. 27, 2025 (USANews.com) has emerged as a distinctive presence in the barbecue landscape, blending tradition, innovation, and a deep sense of community. What started as a passion for smoked meats has evolved into a growing establishment that honors both the craft of barbecue and the people it serves.
From Backyard to Business
The story of Oklahoma Smoke BBQ began with co-owners Ean Kampmeyer and Brent Quintero, whose love for barbecue extended beyond cooking—it became a way to bring people together. Initially operating under Bean, INC, the two used their barbecue skills for fundraising efforts, supporting various causes in their local community. What began as a grassroots effort quickly gained momentum, drawing in others who shared their passion.
A turning point came when they connected with Jared, a nutrition store owner in Moore, Oklahoma, who helped them expand their vision. The team grew to include people from all walks of life—a welder, a retired softball player, an IT technician, and a dive instructor—each contributing something unique to the operation. It was this diverse group that laid the foundation for what would become Oklahoma Smoke BBQ.
A Space That Reflects Its Community
The first official Oklahoma Smoke BBQ restaurant opened in Moore’s Old Town district, designed not just as a place to eat but as a gathering space with personal touches that reflect the community. Pickup truck tailgates hang from the ceiling, a wall of Nerf guns adds a playful element, and a former drive-thru has been transformed into a small wedding chapel. These details give the space a character that goes beyond a typical barbecue joint, creating an environment where customers feel at home.
Staying True to Barbecue Traditions
Central to
Oklahoma Smoke BBQ’s identity is its commitment to traditional smoking techniques. The team uses hand-split pecan wood to bring out the depth of flavor in their meats, honoring time-honored methods of barbecue preparation. The menu balances the classics—brisket, ribs, and pulled pork—with creative dishes that offer a fresh take on smoked meats. The
Hula Q Tacos pair smoked pork with pineapple salsa, while the
Smokehouse Burger layers cheddar cheese, onion rings, smoked sausage, and house-made BBQ sauce into a single dish.
Family recipes also play a significant role in shaping the menu. A
BBQ mustard sauce developed by Ean and his firefighter brother is a customer favorite, while desserts draw inspiration from
Ean’s Grandma Cheryl, who spent years cooking on her Missouri farm. These connections to family and tradition add another layer of meaning to the food being served.

Looking Ahead
Co-owner
Brent Quintero describes
Oklahoma Smoke BBQ as constantly evolving.
“We’re always looking for what’s next. Whether that’s new flavors, new locations, or just a different way to serve our food, we’re never standing still.”
This philosophy ensures that
Oklahoma Smoke BBQ remains not just a restaurant, but a dynamic part of the community it serves. With roots firmly planted in tradition and a spirit of continuous growth, the journey of
Oklahoma Smoke BBQ is far from over.
