A Natural Ally Against Stress in Today's Society

Worldwide - August 12, 2024 (USANews.com) - Women face incredible pressure and stress in today’s society. From social media creating a false reality of how life should be and how you are supposed to act, to corporate jobs with unachievable metrics and the stressors of modern family life, the demands and unrealistic expectations placed on you can wreak havoc on both mental and physical health. Chronic stress causes many problems in the body, particularly the endocannabinoid system (ECS). As this system deteriorates, one's ability to effectively manage stress diminishes, setting off a harmful cycle. If you have ever felt that no matter how many lifestyle changes you make or vitamins you take, nothing seems to help, your ECS might need support.

Thankfully, there is a natural herb that helps your body have a healthy stress response and supports the healthy function of the adrenal, thyroid, and hormonal systems. That herb is a Peruvian plant called Maca. Maca contains a number of nutrients and compounds, including macamides, that nourish and support the body.

Unfortunately, too many maca products are not made properly or are adulterated. Maca requires very special growing and manufacturing processes to become your herbal ally:

  • Maca must be grown high in the Peruvian mountains on fields that rest for ten years after each growing season because it removes so much soil. Unfortunately, most companies skip the rotation, leading to maca with little nutritional value.

  • Maca must be sun-dried for ninety days at the same altitude as it grows to develop high levels of beneficial compounds like macamides. Unfortunately, most companies oven dry at low altitudes because it is faster, but this yields maca low in beneficial compounds. The drying process removes almost sixty percent of the weight of the maca. This is a more expensive way to produce maca, so most companies opt for a cheaper method, resulting in less effective maca.

  • Maca needs to be activated. Activation is a process by which the starch content is removed via a short, high-pressure steam session. This also removes mold and bacteria that naturally grow on maca. The starch removal and heating make the maca easier to digest and more bioavailable, and remove compounds that can cause thyroid problems. Never eat raw maca powder!

  • Maca should contain at least 0.6% macamides. This is a critical quality measure, showing that you are getting maca with enough active compounds to have beneficial effects.

  • Maca should be traced back to the farm from which it came. Most companies don’t partner with the farms they buy from; instead, they buy from middlemen. Middlemen often adulterate the maca powder with caramelized sugar to give it a specific color and taste. Look for maca that comes from companies with a direct partnership with the maca farmers.

  • Maca comes in various colors (red, black, and yellow) and preparations. Choosing the right one can make a big difference in achieving the desired results.

To get the best effects from your maca, take it daily and consistently at the full dosage.

The benefits will build over time.
