There’s a moment in every horror film when the suspense hits its peak, a moment where the tension is so thick, you can almost feel the chill of fear creeping down your spine. In Charlie Shaw’s Revenge, that moment never seems to end. A new entry into the world of UK thriller-horror, this film promises to raise the stakes, combining relentless fear with an unforgettable setting to deliver a cinematic experience unlike any other.

A Unique Setting to Heighten the Horror

While many films use well-worn settings for their terror-filled plots, Charlie Shaw’s Revenge stands out by filming at a location that’s as unexpected as it is unsettling. The movie was shot at the East Sussex School of Circus Arts and Knockhatch Adventure Park, an expansive 65-acre theme park and circus school that has never before been used as a film location. This fascinating blend of whimsical charm and isolated desolation creates a perfect backdrop for the unfolding horror, setting the stage for a chilling story of survival.

For producer and actor Renato Pires, the location was integral to the film’s atmosphere. “The setting is key to the psychological tension in this film. It’s a place that’s both eerie and unfamiliar. A circus school and theme park might sound like a place for fun, but at night, it turns into something far more sinister,” Pires explains. “We wanted to create a film where the setting itself becomes a character, ramping up the fear factor.”

A Tale of Survival Against All Odds

At the core of Charlie Shaw’s Revenge is a classic story of survival. A group of workers, preparing for the re-opening of a theme park after a long period of financial struggle, realize they are being stalked by a silent, ruthless killer. Cut off from all communication and trapped, the survivors must band together to outwit the killer and escape with their lives.

The film’s suspence keeps audiences on edge, as every corner turned could mean life or death. It’s a story of humans pushed to their breaking point, forced to confront their worst fears and rely on each other to survive.

A Fresh Direction in UK Horror

Directed by John Langridge, Charlie Shaw’s Revenge brings something new to the UK horror scene. Langridge, an award-winning director, is known for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to craft atmosphere through tension. This film builds suspense not through gore, but through anticipation and dread, allowing the horror to slowly envelop the audience.

“For me, it was important to focus on the psychological side of horror,” Langridge explains. “The terror comes not just from the killer, but from the situation itself, the isolation, the fear of being stalked, the paranoia. These are things anyone could relate to, which makes the horror feel that much more real.”

The film’s UK roots also play a significant role in its appeal. It’s an indie horror film that taps into the rich tradition of British cinema, while also bringing a modern sensibility to the genre. Fans of classic British thrillers will recognize the references, but there’s a fresh, contemporary twist that makes Charlie Shaw’s Revenge feel like something completely new.

A Film for Horror Fans and Beyond

What makes Charlie Shaw’s Revenge different from other films in the genre isn’t just its unique setting or chilling plot. It’s the care and passion that went into making it. Produced by Pires and featuring a talented ensemble cast, the film emphasizes human relationships and the psychological toll of facing a killer. The characters are multi-dimensional, and their interactions drive the narrative forward just as much as the killer’s pursuit.

The film isn’t just about shocking moments or jump scares, it’s about immersion. It’s about creating a world where the audience feels the same sense of isolation and fear as the characters on screen. With stunning cinematography, a haunting score, and performances that bring depth to each character, Charlie Shaw’s Revenge offers more than just a thrill. It’s a study in suspense, survival, and the human condition under duress.

Industry Screening to Remember

Charlie Shaw’s Revenge had the Industry Screening on February 13th, 2026, in Curzon, Soho in London, where it captivated audiences with its psychological tension and edge-of-your-seat thrills. The film is already drawing attention in the indie film community, and as it prepares for wider distribution with The G Seven taking over 100 cinemas across Colombia.

“This is a film that doesn’t just entertain, it gets under your skin,” says Pires. “It’s the kind of movie that leaves you thinking ‘I didn't see that coming!’”.

2 Nominations and 1 Award Won London Horrific FIlm Festival

The film had its first festival screening on the 22nd of February at The Romford Horror Film Festival in London, where the movie was also nominated for two categories and won one for the Best Visual Effect - Collected by the head of Department Kate Griffiths.
