From Academic Achievement to Corporate Leadership

Raised in Roosevelt, Long Island, New York, Lady Day demonstrated a commitment to leadership early in life. She graduated third in her high school class while serving as senior class president, homecoming queen, yearbook editor, and public announcer.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University in 1993 and a Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University in 1999. Her academic and leadership affiliations included Quill and Dagger Senior Honor Society,Cornell Tradition Fellow, Kappa Delta Pi, and Phi Delta Kappa.

Day went on to build a human resources career that included Fortune 50 leadership positions at Philip Morris, Pfizer, Nabisco, and Ingersoll Rand, as well as work with nonprofit institutions including Lighthouse International, The Fortune Society, and Children’s Television Workshop(known for Sesame Street).

Those experiences deepened her understanding of people, organizations, and the challenges individuals face. They also helped shape the personal approach to leadership she would bring to her ministry.

Turning Lived Experience Into Advocacy

At age 26, Lady Charmaine was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Type 1. That experience became a significant part of her life and, eventually, her public advocacy. By speaking openly about mental illness, she has worked to challenge misconceptions and encourage people to see the individual beyond a diagnosis. Her message recognizes that a person’s health challenges can coexist with talent, ambition, faith, and purpose.

From 2008 to 2025, Day served with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) NYC Metro through its In Our Own Voice and Ending the Silence programs. Her work included sharing her story, training presenters, and participating in mental health education for students, families, and school staff.

Her work in mental health advocacy earned her recognition in the NAMI Hall of Fame (2011) and the NAMI NYS Media Award (2015) for her contributions to awareness through public speaking, her podcast, and media. In 2022, she was named Volunteer of the Year by NAMI NYC. In 2025, she was awarded the “Best Mental Health Awareness Advocate in New York” by Evergreen Awards and was a Board Member for the Bureau of Mental Health Consumer Advisory Board (CAB) of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene from 2024-2026. In 2026, Influential Women Inc  certified that Lady Charmaine Day is an Influential Woman in Business Consulting as CEO of Unlimited Help, Inc. and Ministry as Pastor of Unlimited Help Ministry.
