In New Orleans, iconic parades such as Zulu and Rex were rescheduled to earlier times to avoid the brunt of the severe weather. The Zulu parade commenced at 6:30 a.m., followed by Rex at 9:00 a.m., both operating on modified routes. To mitigate risks associated with high winds, floats and marching bands were notably absent from these processions. In Jefferson Parish, officials preemptively canceled all Mardi Gras Day parades, including the Krewe of Argus and the Krewe of Elks Jeffersonians truck parade, citing concerns over strong winds creating dangerous conditions for floats and tents.

Despite these disruptions, many revelers adapted by commencing celebrations earlier in the day. The New Orleans area, along with southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi, experienced high winds, while other regions contended with a major winter storm and fire risks.
