A Moment That Changed Everything
NATIONWIDE - AUGUST 2025 - (USAnews.com) — One summer evening, as twilight painted the sky in lavender hues, Mary Myers noticed her grandchildren clustered around her, eyes wide with anticipation. They were wearing matching shirts emblazoned with Pocket Watch Portal Adventure—a story she co-wrote with them. In that tender moment, Mary felt time fold and stretch: her fading sight, decades of unrecorded family tales, and the voices of children urging, “Write it down, Grandma.” That was the spark—the moment family, memory, and creativity converged.
A Storyteller by Necessity
Mary Myers—mother, military wife, grandmother of ten (plus several “bonus grands”)—never set out to become a writer. Life took her there. Blindness runs deep in her family; her grandmother, aunt, and great-uncle all lost their sight. Today, Mary lives with 20/350 vision in her “good” eye. Yet from that challenge emerged her calling: to preserve the stories that once slipped quietly into the past.
She had lived a life of service—working as a caseworker, guiding visitors through Colonial Williamsburg, traveling across the country alongside her husband during his military service. Those long drives, often without a working radio, turned her into a storyteller on wheels. “On those trips, stories were my sanity,” she recalls, keeping kids engaged in the backseat while weaving tales they’d remember for years.
The Turning Point
As her vision declined, Mary realized the stories she carried might vanish forever if she didn’t act. “No one wrote down my grandmother’s or aunt’s stories,” she says. “I couldn’t let mine disappear too.” Fourteen months ago, she began writing—first dictating, then refining—and in that short time has completed ten books, with four more in progress and countless ideas waiting in her journals.
Among them are:
Pocket Watch Portal Adventure — A whimsical time-travel tale co-written with her grandchildren as a gift for their father.
Grand Adventure — A joy-filled journey written with her grandkids, capturing their voices and imagination.

New Releases That Shine
Mary’s literary world is still expanding, with two highly anticipated new releases:
If I Were a Butterfly? (July 18, 2025) — A children’s bedtime story celebrating imagination, self-worth, and the beauty of nature. Young Michelle explores a magical garden with the Flower Queen, learning that “the true beauty of being a butterfly lies in spreading joy—and simply being yourself.” Perfect for ages 4–8.
Find on Amazon | Author WebsiteCome As You Are (May 27, 2025) — A faith-filled memoir chronicling Mary’s journey through vision loss, military family life, and unshakable love. A testament to the power of resilience, redemption, and grace.

What Makes Mary Different
Mary is not chasing bestseller lists or trends—she’s chronicling the pulse of kinship and faith. Her books are born from lived moments, written with the heart of a grandmother and the determination of someone who knows that memory is fragile. Her voice blends nostalgia, warmth, and truth.
“I’m just an old storyteller whose eyes are failing,” Mary says. “Every story I write is a gift—because we may forget the past, but we can still give it life.” At the heart of her work, and stamped on her author logo, are the words she lives by: To God be the glory!
A Legacy in Words
From bedtime stories whispered on cross-country drives to books that now sit on shelves across the country, Mary Myers’ work is proof that even when vision fades, the ability to see with the heart grows stronger. She writes for her family, her faith, and anyone who has ever loved a good story.
