OCTOBER 2025 - (USAnews.com) Matthew George Walsh’s journey from mental health nurse to award-winning actor, film producer, and philanthropist is a story of passion, dedication, and the desire to make a meaningful impact.

Born in Liverpool, England, Matthew’s eventual  path to the arts wasn’t a straightforward one, but his diverse experiences have shaped his unique approach to both his professional and philanthropic endeavours - with a passion ignited during his teenage years working Front-of-House at Liverpool’s legendary Everyman Theatre and then a stint working in the arts and charity scene in Paris, France.

Having worked as a mental health nurse, Matthew dedicated years to supporting individuals in need. His experience in this field deeply influenced his passion for mental health advocacy.

His career shift to acting was driven not by fame but by a genuine desire to tell impactful stories and connect with people on a personal level.

For this, he credits his ongoing training with acclaimed Liverpool actress, Sue Jenkins (Coronation Street, Brookside, et al) at The Actors’ Lab in Manchester, UK.

“I’ve always seen acting as a business - successful businesses are organic and multi-faceted. I am my own brand, and that’s what drives me forward,” Matthew reflects.

As his acting career began to take off, so did his ventures into film production and financing - including the Liverpool-set ‘Kate & Jake’ where he formed a strong bond with lead actress Sarah-Louise Chadwick, who he has since worked with on further projects. He’s also become involved this year with commercial presenting for https://casecraft.ai/ and photographic modelling.

His Scouse authenticity and passion soon set him apart in the competitive entertainment world.

A Journey Built on Passion, Talent, and Charity

Matthew George Walsh’s entry into the film industry may have come later in life, but it was marked by an unwavering passion for the craft. "I came into the industry when most people are already well-established,” he says. “But I’m not here to just fit into a mould, I’m here to create my own path."

His career is a testament to that mindset. As an actor, Matthew George Walsh has earned recognition for his roles in major productions and multiple awards. His versatility spans across various genres, from horror films to the upcoming political and social satire feature film ‘Wild Horse In The Rotten West’ (by Bulgarian duo - Mina Mileva & Vesela Kazakova, Activist38), and theatre, comedy, television, social media marketing, commercial presenting, advertising and also modelling - illustrating his broad talent and the growing recognition he is receiving within the industry.

However, Matthew’s impact extends far beyond his acting roles. He is also committed to raising awareness of mental health issues, actively supporting several local Liverpool charities, including Paul’s Place & Beacon Counselling Trust, Sean’s Place, Claire House, and the Martin Gallier Project, as well as household-name Liverpool actress Tina Malone’s forthcoming charity dedicated to the memory of her husband ‘Paul’s Flame’.

His work is focused on fostering tangible change within the community, particularly through initiatives that emphasise mental health support.

In addition to charity work, Matthew is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of talent. Through his partnership with his Alma Mater,  Wirral Grammar School for Boys, he helps aspiring filmmakers and actors gain industry experience and connect with professionals who can guide their careers.

"Liverpool has always had a rich creative spirit, and now, more than ever, we’re seeing that talent go global," Walsh says. He’s passionate about supporting the city’s independent emerging filmmakers, many of whom are gaining recognition internationally. As a mentor and 'angel investor,' he is working to bring their films to a wider audience.

Breaking Barriers and Pushing the Envelope

Matthew’s career is marked by his willingness to explore various creative outlets. Not only is he involved in acting and producing, but he has also started writing and directing.

A notable project is Director Mike Clarke’s upcoming Liverpool feature film, Semolina Pilchard, with its stellar, mostly local cast and crew, in which he acted, produced, and was also the joint majority investor in.

In addition, Matthew has several upcoming projects that further demonstrate his drive to innovate and take creative risks.

One such project, centered around The Beatles, is already attracting attention for its fresh perspective on the legendary Liverpool band’s story. Matthew George Walsh aims to elevate the city’s creative legacy while maintaining the authenticity that has always driven his work.
