Terry Unc Imo Brown: Vietnam Veteran Fighting for Military Justice and Honoring His Lost Brothers

May 14, 2025

Slidell, LA – Terry Unc Imo Brown, a 74-year-old Vietnam War veteran and multi-talented artist, is using his voice to honor his fellow soldiers and shed light on the traumatic events he and his comrades endured during the war. With a compelling story rooted in the struggle for justice, Brown is now focusing on the release of his book, Surviving The Vietnam War, and his music career as an influential artist.

Brown’s story is one of resilience, perseverance, and dedication. Enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of 18, he quickly rose to the rank of E-4. However, his journey took a painful turn due to racism and injustice. In 1969, Brown and four other Black soldiers were subjected to a series of dehumanizing events at the hands of a racist mess sergeant. The tensions culminated in the soldiers being discreetly shipped out in the middle of the night, their lives disrupted and their stories lost to time.

Brown’s mission now is to reconnect with his long-lost brothers from that time and seek justice for the trauma they endured. His book, Surviving The Vietnam War, available on Amazon, provides a detailed account of these events and offers an emotional narrative of the racism faced during his service. “My book is a testament to the pain we suffered, but also to the strength that kept us moving forward,” said Brown. “I am determined to find my brothers and bring attention to the military injustice we faced.”

Aside from his military experiences, Brown has pursued an artistic career and is an accomplished musician with tracks available on platforms such as Spotify and iTunes. Under the moniker Uncimo, his music blends heartfelt messages with fire and passion, resonating with listeners who are drawn to his story of survival and determination. “My music is the heartbeat of my journey,” Brown explained. “Each track tells a piece of my story.”

Brown’s fight for justice is not only about seeking acknowledgment for the wrongs done to him and his fellow soldiers, but also about amplifying the voices of all veterans who have suffered due to racial injustice. His resolve remains unwavering. "I’m a veteran, and we never give up," Brown said. "I will find my friends, and we will get justice. All veterans deserve military justice."

To help in his mission, Brown invites others to explore his work, both in literature and music. His website, Uncimo.com, provides more information on his journey and his artistic creations. He also invites those interested in his story and music to follow him on social media: Instagram (@uncimo), Facebook (Terry Uncimo Brown), and TikTok (@uncimo504).

Brown’s story is one of courage, resilience, and the ongoing fight for justice. His call for the recognition of military injustice in the face of racism and his dedication to finding his comrades make him an important voice in both the veteran community and the broader movement for equality.
