The Wisconsin Badgers delivered an electrifying performance on November 21, stunning No. 9 Arizona with a 103-88 victory in a high-paced non-conference matchup. The win marked Wisconsin’s first triumph over a top-10 team in nearly two years and showcased their ability to compete with the best teams in the nation.
From the outset, Wisconsin dictated the pace of the game. While the Badgers are traditionally known for their defensive prowess and slow tempo, they adopted a more aggressive offensive approach against the Wildcats. AJ Storr was at the center of this offensive explosion, scoring a career-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting. His ability to attack the rim and hit outside shots kept Arizona’s defense off balance.
The Badgers shot an impressive 55% from the field and 43% from three-point range, punishing Arizona’s defensive lapses. In contrast, Arizona struggled to contain Wisconsin’s ball movement, often finding itself out of position on defensive rotations. Despite a strong effort from Wildcats forward Oumar Ballo, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, Arizona failed to keep pace with Wisconsin’s relentless scoring attack.
Defensively, Wisconsin’s backcourt applied consistent pressure on Arizona’s guards, forcing them into difficult shots and limiting their ability to facilitate clean offensive sets. The Wildcats committed 14 turnovers, many of which led to fast-break opportunities for the Badgers.
This victory was a statement for Wisconsin, proving they could go toe-to-toe with elite programs. The win significantly boosts their early-season resume and provides momentum as they head into conference play. Meanwhile, Arizona will need to make defensive adjustments as they prepare for tougher Pac-12 matchups.
Wisconsin will next face another ranked opponent as they continue their difficult non-conference schedule. If this performance is any indication, the Badgers have the tools to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament this season.
