"Parents Fear for Safety as Michael Klisch Faces Allegations of Child Abuse and Retaliation"
Washington, DC - September 6, 2024 (USANews.com) The Northwest Washington Little League community is reeling from shocking allegations of child abuse and retaliation against children by league Commissioner Michael Klisch. An investigative task force has uncovered a pattern of disturbing behavior by Klisch, including threats of lawsuits against witnesses to deter them from reporting him.
The 61-page complaint filed against Klisch and several other league members alleges a wide range of offenses, including child abuse, child endangerment, cheating, retaliation, discrimination, and breach of fiduciary duty. The lawsuit also names Little League International and other league officials as co-Defendants, accusing them of failing to act in the best interests of the children by covering up Klisch's actions.
According to the complaint, Klisch and his co-conspirators engaged in a campaign of harassment and retaliation against parents and children who attempted to report his misconduct. This included forcing an injured child to rake the baseball fields before a game, aggravating the child's injury, and disqualifying the child from tournament play as revenge for missing a game due to the injury.
The allegations also include claims that Klisch made sexual and physical advances towards a child player, and threatened to remove the player from the team if the family pursued actions against him. The family was forced to file an Anti-Stalking Order against Klisch, and the child now fears playing baseball with the league due to the trauma inflicted by Klisch over the past three years.
Despite these disturbing allegations, Little League officials have dismissed the situation as a "private issue" and have chosen to allow it to continue unchecked. Parents in the Northwest Washington Little League are now left feeling unsafe and uncertain about the future of the league.
The safety and well-being of children should always be the top priority in any youth sports organization. The Northwest Washington Little League community is calling for a full investigation into these allegations and for swift action to be taken to ensure the safety of all children involved.
