New York City rewards a certain type of person.

The kind who can handle rejection before breakfast, turn uncertainty into opportunity by lunch, and still show up ready to create by evening. It is a city that demands resilience, adaptability, and relentless ambition.

Aaron Dalla Villa fits that description perfectly.

As an actor, producer, and founder of One Man Army (OMA), Dalla Villa has spent years building a career that reflects both his creative instincts and entrepreneurial mindset. His growing body of work includes projects such as The Wrath of Becky, Gotham, FBI, Citizen Weiner, Pledge, The Blind, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and the immersive theatrical production Life & Trust. More recently, he earned Primetime Emmy consideration for his performance in The Plastic Men. Yet despite his accomplishments, Dalla Villa approaches success with a perspective that remains grounded.

"I've learned to expect nothing and be grateful for everything," he says.

That philosophy has become one of the defining principles behind both his career and his approach to life.

Building Opportunities Instead Of Waiting For Them

Like many artists, Dalla Villa has witnessed the realities of the entertainment industry firsthand.

He believes that too much of modern entertainment is driven by money, institutional influence, and industry connections rather than creativity itself. While acknowledging the challenges, he chose not to wait for opportunities to appear.

Instead, he created his own.

That decision led to the founding of One Man Army, a New York based production company dedicated to independently produced films and curated live events. More than a business venture, OMA represents Dalla Villa's commitment to artistic freedom and original storytelling.

Rather than chasing trends, the company focuses on projects that embrace unique perspectives and unconventional narratives.

In a crowded entertainment landscape, Dalla Villa believes independent creators have an opportunity to tell stories larger studios often overlook.

That philosophy continues to guide OMA's growth and its expanding slate of projects.

The Momentum Behind The Plastic Men

Another significant project in Dalla Villa’s acting career is The Plastic Men. While the film was not produced by One Man Army, Dalla Villa appeared in the project as an actor.

Originally conceived as a short film, the project quickly evolved into a feature length production before ultimately being acquired by GlassHouse Distribution, now known as Studio Dome.

The film also brought Dalla Villa unexpected recognition through Primetime Emmy consideration for his performance.

While many actors spend years pursuing such acknowledgment, Dalla Villa remains focused on the work itself rather than external validation.

For him, creative fulfillment comes from the process of building meaningful projects and collaborating with talented people.

That same mindset fuels several upcoming productions, including the feature film Your Teeth Are Falling Out and the series West Village, both currently in post production.

A Creative Journey Across Disciplines

Long before acting became his primary focus, Dalla Villa's artistic journey began elsewhere.

Originally from Virginia, he first trained as a jazz musician before transitioning into dance and eventually finding his way to acting.

That multidisciplinary background continues to shape his approach to performance.

For Dalla Villa, acting is not about imitation. It is about transformation.

He views the script as a foundation upon which a character's psychology can be built. External elements such as wardrobe, physical appearance, and environment often become essential tools in helping him understand a role from the inside out.

While preparing for his role as Abbott in The Plastic Men, he immersed himself in research surrounding the Vietnam War, exploring military history and the psychological realities that shaped the character's world.

As a self described history enthusiast, understanding context became a critical part of creating authenticity.

Why Resilience Remains The Ultimate Skill

Throughout the conversation, one theme emerged repeatedly: resilience.

Dalla Villa speaks openly about rejection as an unavoidable reality, not only in entertainment but in life itself.

Rather than resisting it, he embraces it.

"You just have to stay positive," he explains.

That outlook reflects a broader perspective that has helped him navigate an industry known for uncertainty.

At one point, he shared a simple observation that captures much of his philosophy: "Life is all a game."

Not in a cynical sense, but as a reminder that risk, unpredictability, and setbacks are inevitable. Success often comes from continuing to move forward despite them.

For Dalla Villa, taking risks is not something to avoid. It is part of the creative process itself.

Protecting Human Creativity In A Changing World

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape creative industries, Dalla Villa remains committed to the value of human artistry.

Technology may evolve, but he believes creativity must remain deeply personal.

"Human creativity is what matters," he says.

That belief sits at the center of everything he is building.

Whether through One Man Army, his acting career, or future productions, Dalla Villa continues to champion originality, artistic independence, and the importance of authentic storytelling.

In many ways, his success is not defined by any single role, project, or accolade.

It is defined by his willingness to create his own opportunities, take risks, and build a world that reflects his vision.

And in New York City, that may be the most impressive achievement of all.
