Stand-Up Comedy Doc VINNIE PLAYS VEGAS Gets April Tubi Premiere

Feb 11, 2026

NATIONWIDE - FEBRUARY 2026 - (USAnews.com) After a year of steady momentum on premium digital platforms, the stand-up comedy documentary VINNIE PLAYS VEGAS is set to reach its largest audience yet with an April premiere on Tubi, the free, ad-supported streaming platform serving more than 97 million monthly active users worldwide.

The move marks a major milestone for the independently produced feature, which chronicles the turbulent rise, fall, and uneasy reinvention of controversial Las Vegas comedian Vinnie Favorito- a performer whose career has become part cautionary tale, part Vegas folklore.

Vinnie’s story is a true blend of comedy and tragedy. Once the heir-apparent to Don Rickles as Sin City’s must-see insult comic, Favorito’s gambling addiction led him to con his way to “borrowing” over one million dollars from anyone and everyone around him: friends, neighbors, casino dealers, co-workers, and even the audience of fans that filled his own showroom at the Flamingo every night.

Starring Vinnie Favortio and narrated by director Brian Burkhardt, the film features appearances by comedians Bobby Slayton, Mickey Joseph, and Brandt Tobler, as well as advantage sports legend Bill “Krackman” Krackomberger, high-roller Tiger Patel, and interviews with other key figures that were victims of Favorito’s scams and played a role in his eventual firing and bankruptcy filing story.

From Beverly Hills Premiere to Global Digital Release

Attendees enjoy food, drinks, and entertainment at the Vinnie Plays Vegas premiere in Beverly Hills.

The film’s journey began with a red-carpet premiere at Crescent Theater on July 28, 2025. The sold-out screening brought Burkhardt and Joseph together in person with writers Mike Weatherford and Alfredo Papadakis, editor Bishrel Mashbat, and producer Christopher Robin Gallego along with a number of other celebrities and influencers from the worlds of both entertainment and sports betting, such as music artist Dovley and renowned horseplayer Jimmy The Hat, among others.

The event leaned fully into Vegas-style spectacle, complete with Elvis impersonator Steve Hernandez a.k.a. Norwalk Elvis, strolling magic performed by Noel Dumont a.k.a. The Wand King, catered food from the Los Angeles extreme sandwich joint Fat Sal’s, as well as fresh seafood dishes from pop-up concept Poseidon’s Catch by Chef Jordan Pierson, and a hosted bar.

The event also featured a post-screening Q&A. The audience was treated to more behind the scenes stories about the challenges of making the film, dealing with Vinnie, and some tales of con men that didn’t make the cut. Footage from the event is available as bonus content on the DVD release and was produced by Acre Films.

Digital Rollout and International Reach

In August 2025, North American distributor S&R Films released VINNIE PLAYS VEGAS on iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, and YouTube, while Miracle Media handled distribution in the United Kingdom.

The release introduced the film to comedy fans and documentary audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, cementing its reputation as an unvarnished look at a performer who defied easy redemption arcs.

A Divisive Ending, By Design

Critical response to the film has been mixed, though largely for reasons the filmmakers anticipated. Rather than criticizing the film’s technical execution or storytelling craft, many reviewers focused on the lack of a traditionally satisfying resolution from its central subject.

Favorito, the filmmakers argue, does not deliver a neat Hollywood ending- and that is precisely the point. VINNIE PLAYS VEGAS opts for truth over catharsis, portraying a subject who remains complicated, abrasive, and unresolved, even as he continues to command attention on stage.

A Real-World Revival in Las Vegas

While the film resists narrative closure, real life has added a new chapter. Favorito has quietly re-established himself as a fixture at Notoriety Live on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, performing regularly under his long-running Unfiltered banner. The show retains his trademark one-man insult comedy style: polarizing, unapologetic, and unmistakably his own.

His story has also been re-examined through a journalistic lens. Weatherford, who originally chronicled Favorito’s downfall for the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2015, revisited the saga in interviews with NPR Nevada’s Mike Prevatt on the State of Nevada podcast. Desert Companion magazine further cemented the comedian’s status as Vegas lore with a feature in its February 2026 issue.

Why Tubi Changes the Game

The April debut on Tubi represents a pivotal shift for VINNIE PLAYS VEGAS. Moving from transactional platforms behind a paywall to a free, ad-supported service opens the documentary to a vastly broader audience- many of whom may be encountering Favorito’s story for the first time.

For an independent documentary that thrives on conversation and controversy, the platform’s scale offers something rare: the chance for a niche, provocative film to become part of a larger cultural dialogue.

As VINNIE PLAYS VEGAS enters its next phase, the film’s own trajectory mirrors its subject by refusing to fade quietly and finding new audiences beyond expectations.
