Startup Ignition Takes Its Bootcamp Nationwide

Startup Ignition is expanding beyond Utah with founder-focused bootcamps planned for Los Angeles, Dallas, and Miami.

For many entrepreneurs, the earliest stage of building a company can be the most uncertain. An idea may appear promising, but without direct customer feedback, founders can spend months developing a product that does not solve a clear or urgent problem. Startup Ignition was created to help entrepreneurs slow down at that critical stage, test their assumptions, and make decisions based on evidence rather than enthusiasm alone.

After more than a decade of working with founders in Utah, Startup Ignition is preparing to bring its bootcamp to a broader national audience. The organization has announced upcoming programs in Los Angeles, Dallas, and Miami during its 2026 and 2027 calendar. The expansion marks the first time the bootcamp will be offered outside Utah.

A Founder-Focused Beginning

Startup Ignition was founded by father-and-son entrepreneurs John and Tyler Richards with the goal of helping founders improve how they evaluate and develop early-stage business ideas. Their approach grew from a common challenge they observed among entrepreneurs. Many founders could find individual sources of advice, but they often lacked a structured process that connected idea validation, customer discovery, business planning, and preparation for growth.

The bootcamp was developed as an entry point into that process. According to Startup Ignition, the program has trained more than 1,000 founders and worked with nearly 1,000 ventures since launching in 2015. Participants are guided through practical exercises intended to help them identify customer needs, test business assumptions, and refine their business models before making larger commitments of time or money.

That validation-first approach will remain central as the program enters new cities.

Why These Three Cities Were Selected

Startup Ignition selected Los Angeles, Dallas, and Miami because each city has an active and diverse business community.

Los Angeles is home to entrepreneurs working across technology, media, entertainment, consumer products, and creative industries. Dallas continues to attract businesses and founders in technology, professional services, and corporate innovation. Miami has also developed a growing startup community that includes entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders from both domestic and international markets.

By holding bootcamps in these locations, Startup Ignition aims to make its structured startup education available to founders who may not have access to its Utah-based programs.

Learning To Validate Before Building

The bootcamp begins with a set of practical questions. Who is the customer? What problem needs to be solved? How urgent is that problem? What evidence suggests that customers would pay for a solution?

These questions can be difficult for founders who are personally invested in an idea. However, testing them early can reveal whether a concept is worth pursuing, needs to be adjusted, or should be reconsidered entirely.

Participants work through customer discovery, market research, business model development, and early validation. The goal is not simply to help founders move faster. It is to help them determine what should be built, who it should serve, and what evidence supports the decision.

For many founders, that process can also reduce the sense of isolation that often comes with starting a company. Discussing uncertain ideas, hearing direct feedback, and learning alongside other entrepreneurs can make difficult decisions more manageable.

Support Beyond The Bootcamp

Startup Ignition also provides access to additional tools and founder resources after the educational program ends. Its broader ecosystem includes mentorship, community support, and Startup Ignition Toolsuite, an artificial intelligence platform designed to help entrepreneurs organize customer discovery, evaluate ideas, develop business models, and prepare for future fundraising discussions.

The organization also operates Startup Ignition Ventures, a separate pre-seed venture fund that evaluates selected software companies. Participation in the bootcamp does not guarantee consideration, eligibility, or funding. The fund and the educational program remain distinct, although founders may gain a clearer understanding of the factors investors often consider when reviewing early-stage companies.

The team behind Startup Ignition draws from experience in entrepreneurship, startup education, and early-stage investing. Its teaching model focuses on practical application, including testing ideas in the market and using customer feedback to guide business decisions.

A New Stage Of Growth

The national expansion represents a new phase for Startup Ignition while keeping its original purpose intact. The organization plans to continue helping founders identify customer needs, evaluate demand, and make informed choices before committing significant resources.

Entrepreneurs in Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, and other markets can review the upcoming Startup Ignition Bootcamp calendar and learn more about the organization’s founder programs at Startup Ignition.

Founders can also follow Startup Ignition on LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and Facebook for program updates, founder insights, and educational content. Video interviews and startup discussions are available through the organization’s YouTube channel, while longer-form conversations can be explored through the Startup Ignition Podcast.
