With the Christmas Night Lights Parade, Small Business Saturday and Christmas in the Nighttime Skies drawing thousands of residents, the facility offers month-to-month units, contactless online rentals and 50% off the first full month on select units.

What Is Happening in Pocatello During Holiday Kickoff Weekend?

Thanksgiving weekend is the traditional start of the Christmas season in Pocatello. Four community events fill the two days after the holiday:

• Christmas Night Lights Parade (Friday, Nov. 27, 6:30 p.m.): Lighted floats wind through Historic Downtown Pocatello, with Santa riding a City of Pocatello fire truck. The parade has run for at least 35 years, and organizers have reported about 100 entries and roughly 10,000 spectators along the route.
• Poky Christmas Market (Nov. 27 to 28): A holiday craft and gift market at the Mountain View Event Center, 1567 Way to Grace Avenue.
• Small Business Saturday (Saturday, Nov. 28): Historic Downtown Pocatello merchants welcome holiday shoppers the morning after the parade.
• Christmas in the Nighttime Skies (Saturday, Nov. 28, 5 to 9 p.m.): The Marine Corps League hosts bonfires, food and an 8 p.m. aerial fireworks show at the Bannock County Event Center, 10588 Fairground Drive. Admission is one new, unwrapped toy per family for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation.

How Can Pocatello Families Use Storage During the Holidays?

The switch from fall decor to Christmas lights, trees and gifts is when many Pocatello households run short on space. A storage unit close to home keeps the season organized:

• Rotate seasonal decor: Store pumpkins, wreaths and fall bins as the Christmas tree, lights and ornaments come out.
• Keep gifts out of sight: Hold wrapped presents and large items, like bikes or furniture, until Christmas morning.
• Make room for guests: Clear a home office or spare room for visiting family over the holidays.
• Pack up after New Year's Day: Return decorations to a heated, climate-controlled unit that protects ornaments, electronics and keepsakes from Pocatello's winter cold.

How Does Storage Help Local Vendors and Small Businesses This Season?

Holiday market vendors and downtown merchants often carry more inventory between Thanksgiving and Christmas than their shop or home can hold. Ground-level, drive-up units at YourWay Storage McKinley Avenue let sellers load and restock straight from a vehicle, a short drive from Historic Downtown Pocatello.

Because units rent month to month, a business can add space for the holiday rush and scale down in January without a long-term lease.

"Thanksgiving weekend is when Pocatello really shifts into Christmas mode. People come to us with the fall decor they just took down, the tree and lights they need to get out, and gifts they want kept somewhere the kids won't look. A month-to-month unit makes that switch a lot easier."
