Durand, Inc. Appoints Marc Sano as Executive Director, Celebrating Cristofoletti’s 23-Year Legacy and Paving New Path Ahead
Mount Laurel, NJ – February 6, 2025(USANews.com) – Durand, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, for over 50 years in southern New Jersey, is proud to announce the appointment of Marc Sano as its new Executive Director and CEO. Sano takes the helm following the retirement of Raymond Cristofoletti, who has led the organization with distinction for the past 23 years.
After a comprehensive and careful selection process, Sano emerged as the unanimous choice to guide Durand into its next chapter. Having joined Durand's Board of Trustees in 2016 and serving as Board Chairperson for the last four years, Sano brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience to his new role. His impressive background includes 32 years in law enforcement, during which he served as Chief of Police for Lumberton Township and Director of Security at Virtua Health. With expertise in public safety, crisis intervention, and healthcare administration, Sano is well-equipped to further Durand's mission of providing exceptional support to vulnerable populations.
As Cristofoletti prepares for retirement, he expressed his confidence in Sano's leadership ability, stating, “Marc’s strategic vision, combined with his solutions-driven leadership style and dedication to our mission, ensures that Durand will continue to thrive and grow. The need for services like ours is greater than ever, especially as New Jersey’s autism diagnosis rates continue to rise.”
Under Cristofoletti's leadership, Durand expanded significantly, growing from a $3 million to a $23 million operation that has impacted the lives of thousands of children and adults with developmental disabilities. His tenure has been marked by innovative programs such as specialized training for first responders to aid individuals with autism during emergencies, as well as the introduction of a resident service dog program to provide emotional support to students. Cristofoletti’s holistic approach to addressing the needs of clients, families, and the community has cemented Durand’s role as a cornerstone of support in the region.
“Raymond Cristofoletti’s unwavering dedication has been the driving force behind Durand’s growth and success,” stated Marc Sano, the incoming Executive Director. “His legacy of compassion and innovation will serve as our guiding light as we move forward. I am excited to build on this strong foundation and lead Durand towards a promising future, including the planned construction of a new school to meet increasing demand.”
Durand, Inc. remains committed to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring they receive the support and services necessary for their growth and success. With Marc Sano at the helm, the organization is poised to continue its vital work for years to come.Alongside Sano’s appointment, Durand names Henry Doner, Esq., as its new Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. Doner, an attorney and managing partner of Doner Castro Law, previously served as Board Secretary and is well-positioned to guide Durand into its next phase of growth.
