Puntr Unveils A Free Global Sports Tipping App
Puntr brings social sports tipping into one free app, helping groups organise competitions without spreadsheets, chasing, or complicated setup.

From One Friend’s Spreadsheet To A Global App
The familiar scene starts with a message: “Who has picked yet?” A friend waits for replies, checks a spreadsheet, updates the results and sends another reminder. What began as a fun competition has quietly become another weekly admin job. For Dave Levett, founder of Puntr, that routine was the starting point for a different approach to sports tipping.
Levett watched a friend manage a Last Man Standing competition for an entire season using text messages and a spreadsheet. The competition worked, but one person carried the workload. Tips arrived at different times, results had to be tracked manually, and Sunday nights could become an exercise in finding the people who had not yet made their picks. “Every group has one person who runs the comp, and they never get thanked,” Levett said. “I built Puntr for that person.” From that experience came Puntr, a free sports tipping app designed to make group competitions easier to organise and more enjoyable to play.
One App For Multiple Sports And Formats
Puntr brings multiple formats together in one place. Groups can run Survivor and Last Man Standing competitions, season long Overall tipping, Daily Tip challenges, head to head Duels, Rivalries against the Experts and a daily five question sports quiz.
The platform currently supports 19 competitions, including the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, Premier League, Champions League, NRL, AFL, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and College Football, with additional competitions planned. The result is a single destination for groups that follow different sports or prefer different ways to compete.
Taking The Admin Out Of Sports Tipping
The organiser experience is central to the product. A competition can be created using one link or join code, while an entire roster can be added at once. Organisers can also make a competition publicly available for people looking for a group to join.
Once the competition is running, Puntr handles much of the routine administration through deadline reminders, push notifications and a weekly digest showing who still needs to submit a tip. Results are synced automatically from live fixture feeds, reducing the need for manual scorekeeping.
As customer Andy L put it, “I used to run this exact comp on a spreadsheet and spend half my week chasing people for tips. Now I share a code and stir the pot in the chat. Puntr does the rest.”
Giving Players More Ways To Compete
For players, the appeal is choice without having to move between different platforms. An official Puntr competition is available in every supported sport, allowing people to participate even when they have not been invited to a private group.
Players can also join multiple competitions through one account. Puntr provides additional tools through its optional Playr+ subscription, including Puntr Edge win chances for fixtures, Puntr Plannr for mapping a Survivor season, full statistics and a trophy cabinet. A public leaderboard also features Puntr Rating, which ranks tipsters according to their results.
Built Around The Social Side Of Sport
That combination reflects Levett’s view that sports tipping should remain fundamentally social. “A tipping comp is a reason to talk to your friends every week. The app just has to get out of the way,” he said.
Puntr does not hold prize money and is not a betting product. Its core competition experience is free, while optional subscription tools are designed for players who want deeper statistics and planning features.
Customer Marija L described the social effect after using the platform with an office group: “We ran one across the office for the World Cup and it went off. Two minutes to set up, and people who never watch football were sweating on penalty shootouts.”
A Simpler Way To Start A Group Competition
Puntr is built by a small independent team and is available on iOS, Android and the web. People can explore the platform on the Website, the App Store, Google Play, and Instagram.
The approach is straightforward: make the competition easier to start, remove unnecessary administration and give players more ways to take part. For the person who has always ended up managing the spreadsheet, that can mean spending less time chasing tips and more time enjoying the competition itself.
