Skor Ops Is Making Every Hospitality Shift Count
Skor Ops helps independent hospitality teams turn daily tasks into visible, accountable work, giving operators a clearer way to keep every shift on track.

At the end of a hospitality shift, one question can say everything: Did the work actually get done?
For Sean Barrite, Bobby Dyer, that question became impossible to ignore. As hospitality operators running properties across California and Mexico, the three founders saw the same challenge repeatedly. Schedules could show who was working, while property management Ops could handle bookings, but neither gave operators a clear picture of what happened during the hours in between.
So they built the tool they could not find.
That tool became SkorOps, the flagship platform from Skor Systems, a hospitality software company based in San Ysidro, California. Built around shift management, task ownership, and visible performance, SkorOps gives independent hostels, boutique hotels, restaurants, bars, and cafes a practical way to make daily operations clearer.
SkorOps Started With a Problem Its Founders Lived Every Day
SkorOps was not created as a theoretical software concept. It began as an internal tool inside ITH Hostels, a nine property hostel group spanning California and Mexico. The founders built it for their own teams, ran it during real shifts, and shaped it around the problems they encountered on the floor.
That experience influenced the company's central philosophy.
As Sean Barrite, Co-Founder explains, "People don't skip the laundry handover out of spite. They skip it because nobody wrote it down, nobody owned it and nobody noticed. We fixed all three."
That idea is simple, but its implications are significant. Instead of treating missed tasks as a staffing problem, Skor Ops approaches them as a visibility problem. When expectations are clear, responsibilities have owners, and completed work can be recognized, teams have a stronger foundation for follow through.
The result is a system designed around the realities of frontline hospitality rather than around an abstract management model.
A Scoreboard for the Work Between Check In and Check Out
SkorOps turns everyday shift responsibilities into visible, scored work. Each task can have an owner, a scheduled time, and a point value. As staff complete their responsibilities, those actions contribute to a score that can be viewed through the platform.
A live team board helps staff see where the shift stands, while managers can review completion rates, trends, and recurring missed tasks. The platform also includes a Manager on Duty board, shift scheduling, projects for longer term work, recurring tasks and alerts, and multi property dashboards.
Staff can use their phones to complete tasks without installing hardware or going through a lengthy training process. The platform supports seven languages, making it practical for teams working across different backgrounds and locations.
For Skor Ops, however, the scoreboard is not about turning work into surveillance. It is about making good work visible.
Bobby Dyer, Co-Founder,puts the philosophy plainly: "Dialing in your processes so that your team can be better hosts and have more fun."
That distinction is central to the company's approach. Staff can see their own scores and the team board, while operators gain a clearer understanding of how a shift is progressing. Recognition becomes part of the operational process.
Three Operators, One Shared Standard
The company's operator first approach comes directly from its founders.
Dyer and Black co-founded ITH Hostels and spent years dealing with the realities of running hospitality properties across California and Mexico. Barrite brought another perspective, combining experience as a United States military veteran with master's level education in behavioral science and cybersecurity.
Those backgrounds helped shape both sides of SkorOps. The product is designed around behavioral principles such as ownership, timing, visibility, and recognition, while its foundation includes tenant isolation at the database layer, mandatory two factor login, passkey support, role based access, and audit logging.
The founders also use the platform in their own operations.
"We ran nine properties in two countries and the question at the end of every shift was the same: did it actually get done? Now we look at a board," Dyer says.
That experience gives Skor Ops a perspective that remains close to the people actually working hospitality shifts. The company is bootstrapped and founder operated, and its product continues to be shaped by the environments where it was first developed.
Building Software Around the People Who Use It

Skor Ops has expanded the platform beyond its core shift management function. Its product family includes SkorCover for employment policy compliance, Skor Contracts for electronic signatures, and SkorAudit for mobile first property inspections with scored reports.
Together, these tools reflect the company's broader mission: to become an operating layer for hospitality teams and make daily execution easier to see and manage.
The philosophy also extends to pricing and accessibility. SkorOps offers unlimited staff on its plans, with pricing designed for small hospitality teams rather than a per user model. That matters in an industry where employee turnover can make per user software costs particularly difficult for independent operators.
For Co-Founders Sean and Bobby the reasoning is straightforward: "Every plan is unlimited staff. Charging per user punishes the exact businesses that need this most."
The approach keeps the focus on the operation itself rather than on the number of people using the software.
Making Every Shift Visible
The opportunity for Skor Ops is ultimately larger than a checklist.
Hospitality depends on hundreds of small actions that guests may never notice when they are done correctly. Towels need to be restocked. Laundry needs to be handed over. Shared spaces need to be reset. Closing responsibilities need to happen. Seasonal projects need to move forward.
When those tasks are completed consistently, the guest experiences a property that simply works.
SkorOps is designed to bring visibility to that work while it is happening.
"Any operation can hold a standard while the owner is watching. We built Skor for the times nobody is watching," Barrite says.
That idea captures the company's larger ambition. Skor Ops is not trying to replace the Ops hospitality businesses already depend on. It is building a layer focused on the daily execution those Ops do not necessarily capture.
For independent operators, that can mean spending less time chasing updates and more time understanding what is actually happening across a property.

The Future of Hospitality Operations Starts With the Shift
Skor Ops began with three operators who needed a better answer to a basic question. Did the work get done?
Today, that question remains at the center of the company's product and mission. By combining visible task ownership, scored shifts, recognition, operational tools, and security focused design, Skor Ops is building technology around a part of hospitality that is easy to overlook but impossible to ignore.
Its promise is equally direct: "Run your hostel like you're there, even when you're not."
