  • Bookstore owners and community leaders dedicated to promoting literacy and diversity

Key Themes:

  • The impact of strong parent-child relationships on early childhood development.
  • The crucial role of schools and educators in addressing and mitigating challenges faced by students.

  • The value of community involvement, including medical professionals and support advocates, in fostering a supportive environment for children.

  • Drawing inspiration from personal family experiences Annette Dhanasar has infused the book with empathy, moments of reflections and practical insights, making it a valuable tool for parents and educators alike.

Quotes:

“I loved reading this book filled with wondering stories for children to learn about being empathetic, recognizing when they are being "mean" and apologizing when they realize their error. this is crucial to develop early in children as when they are adults, this won't be as challenging to follow through.

I really liked the French text as well, as being from Canada it was good to also fun to read the text translated in French following the content. The characters in each story were relatable. The theme of forgiveness was touching when Chelsea grieves over the accident with Roxy (broke her paw when casting a frisbee). Confronting fears as expressed in the story and encouraging collaboration with another child who is willing to help, is a good way to problem solve and confront a child's fear. I loved the activities in the back of the book as well as additional questions children can reflect upon. Over all touching little stories with great messages for both children and adults to reflect on! – Susan Isabella

"I liked that the book is written in both English and French text. I especially like the "Moments of Reflection" at the end of each short story. I think this helps to highlight the "lesson" of each story and provides a good "take away" for readers to think about. The importance of being kind to everyone, even people who are unlike ourlseves. I appreciate that the main character is the story of a girl in a wheelchair, it highlights the strengths of individuals in this specific life situation but still remains relatable as all children may face similar social and emotional challenges." – Anita Ng, Teacher, York Region District School Board.
