NeuroQuest Enrichment Center: Redefining Education for Exceptional Learners
Encinitas, California January 2, 2025(USANews.com) – The NeuroQuest Enrichment Center, founded by Briana Songer, is transforming how education supports neurodivergent and exceptional learners. Located in Encinitas, the center provides a safe and engaging space where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally through personalized support and innovative teaching methods.
Driven by Songer’s personal journey as a mother to a twice-exceptional AuDHD son, NeuroQuest was established to address the gaps in traditional education. Songer observed firsthand how mainstream schools often lack the resources or training to nurture neurodivergent students, leaving many children feeling overlooked or underserved. Frustrated with rigid systems and inadequate accommodations, Songer turned to homeschooling, which allowed her son to flourish academically but left him longing for peer interaction and a sense of community.
Recognizing a broader need, Songer envisioned NeuroQuest as a space where children could access individualized learning while enjoying the benefits of a shared educational environment. The result is a center that tailors education to the needs of each student, helping them re-engage with learning while building real-world skills.
At NeuroQuest, the focus is on quality over quantity, emphasizing creative, hands-on learning that moves away from a one-size-fits-all approach. The center employs a unique teaching model by partnering with subject matter experts who bring passion and specialized knowledge to their fields. Vendors like Sticky Fingers Cooking, GoBoldly SD, Little Shepherds Nature Lab, and Crazy Science with Ken provide enrichment programs in art, theater, music, science, and more. Meanwhile, a partnership with Code Ninjas introduces students to STEM subjects, including coding, robotics, and other technological disciplines essential for their futures.
Songer explains, “Instead of generic teachers covering multiple subjects, we work with experts who’ve built businesses around what they love. Their enthusiasm and depth of knowledge resonate with neurodivergent kids who want to dive deep into their interests, as well as with gifted and neurotypical students who thrive on creative challenges.”

To ensure personalized attention, NeuroQuest hires teaching assistants trained in neurodivergent strategies. These facilitators work closely with students to keep them engaged, provide breaks when needed, and offer tailored support during classes. This dual-teacher approach allows expert vendors to focus on delivering enriching lessons while students receive the guidance they need to succeed.
The center’s methods are rooted in neuroaffirming principles, emphasizing flexibility and low-pressure learning environments. To support this, Songer developed the guide Supporting Neurodivergent Students in the Classroom and a corresponding training program for staff. These tools ensure that every instructor at NeuroQuest understands how to foster a safe, supportive atmosphere where students feel understood and empowered.
“Many of our students arrive with a history of school refusal or burnout,” Songer says. “Traditional systems have left them feeling traumatized or disengaged, and our goal is to help them rediscover the joy of learning. By meeting them where they are and celebrating their strengths, we create an environment where they feel valued and excited about their education.”
NeuroQuest’s philosophy benefits students across all learning styles. While designed with neurodivergent children in mind, the center actively encourages neurotypical students to enroll, fostering an inclusive community where diverse minds can collaborate and learn together. This holistic approach ensures that every child, regardless of their background, thrives in a setting that prioritizes creativity, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving skills.

The success of NeuroQuest has had a profound impact on both students and their families. Parents find not only a welcoming community but also practical resources and tools to support their children’s growth. For students, the center offers a rare opportunity to feel safe, seen, and supported.
One mother recalls her son’s transformation after just a few weeks at NeuroQuest. “Mom, I found my place,” he told her, highlighting the importance of belonging and connection in the learning process.
Songer reflects on the challenges of building NeuroQuest, from navigating zoning laws to securing funding and meeting regulatory requirements. Yet, she credits her resilience to the moments of triumph she witnesses daily.
“Starting NeuroQuest has been the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life,” she says. “Every time I see a child re-engage with learning or watch my own son wake up excited to go to ‘school,’ I know it was worth every struggle.”
Students at NeuroQuest aren’t just surviving; they’re thriving. The center’s unique approach has made it a haven for exceptional learners, providing them with the tools they need to excel in school and beyond.
NeuroQuest Enrichment Center is more than an educational facility—it’s a community where children of all abilities can discover their passions, celebrate their individuality, and build a foundation for lifelong success.
