Port Saint Lucie, FL, NOVEMBER 2025 - (USAnews.com) — As conversations around public health continue to grow, blood sugar instability remains an issue that is often under-discussed. One condition gaining greater attention is reactive hypoglycemia, a form of low blood sugar that can cause a range of symptoms and is frequently misidentified or overlooked.
To bring awareness and education to this topic, the non-profit Hypoglycemia Support Foundation (HSF) is hosting the return of the Blood Sugar Roller Coaster Summit, an online event running from November 10 to 16, 2025.
Presented in collaboration with Mike Collins and the Quit Sugar Summit team, this virtual summit will provide attendees with educational sessions from over 40 speakers, including health professionals, researchers, authors, and advocates.
“This event is about helping people better understand the science and patterns of metabolic health in a way that is accessible and empowering,” says Wolfram Alderson, CEO of the Hypoglycemia Support Foundation. “We’ve brought together a global panel of experts to offer practical insights that can help individuals take charge of their well-being.”
Spotlight on Summit Contributors

Among the featured speakers is Dr. Robert Lustig, a world-renowned pediatric endocrinologist and professor emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco. He is also the author of the bestselling books, Fat Chance and Metabolical, which explore the intersection of nutrition, metabolism, and chronic disease.
“Metabolic health plays a major role in how people feel and function each day,” Dr. Lustig says. “There is still so much that the general public and even many medical professionals don’t know about how blood sugar regulation affects the body.”
Joining Dr. Lustig are several other prominent voices:
Gary Taubes, investigative health journalist and author of The Case Against Sugar, brings a research-based perspective on sugar consumption and public health narratives.
Professor Tim Noakes, co-founder and Chief Medical Director of the Nutrition Network, offers clinical insights on nutrition and its role in chronic disease prevention.
Dr. Keith Berkowitz, founder of the Center for Balanced Health, shares his experience with metabolic health and patient-centered care models.
Brenda Bennett, known as the “Sugar Free Mom,” is a cookbook author and blogger who focuses on family-friendly low-sugar recipes and personal empowerment.
Dr. Molly Maloof, a physician and health span advocate, contributes her expertise in personalized medicine and health optimization.
Peter Arpesella, award-winning actor, author, and type 1 diabetes advocate, speaks to the emotional aspects of living with a metabolic condition.
Connie Bennett, author of Sugar Shock! and I Blew My Diet! Now What?, shares her personal journey and then shares tips to help listeners take back their power after they ate badly.
Dr. Jeffrey S. Bland, who’s known as the “Father of Functional Medicine”; award-winning actor, author, and type 1 diabetes advocate.
What the Summit Covers
Throughout the week-long event, summit sessions will explore a variety of topics such as:
Recognizing signs of blood sugar dysregulation.
Understanding the influence of nutrition timing and food choices.
Exploring stress, sleep, and hormonal factors that affect energy balance.
Learning from personal stories of individuals who have overcome long-standing metabolic challenges.
Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, the Blood Sugar Roller Coaster Summit encourages individuals to explore options and build awareness about how daily habits, nutrition, and environment can impact overall well-being.
“This is not about pushing any specific program or product,” says Roberta Ruggiero, founder of the Hypoglycemia Support Foundation. “This Blood Sugar Roller Coaster Summit is about helping people feel seen, heard, and supported. So many people experience symptoms they can’t explain, and through this event, we want to offer both knowledge and encouragement.”
