Adidas has officially ended its partnership with Kanye West’s Yeezy brand, marking the end of one of the most successful collaborations in sneaker history. Adidas has officially closed the chapter on its partnership with Kanye West’s Yeezy brand, confirming that no Yeezy products remain in its inventory as of late 2024. The announcement marks the final stage of the brand’s breakup with West, which began in October 2022 when Adidas cut ties with the rapper due to his controversial statements and actions.
Despite severing the partnership, Adidas continued selling Yeezy shoes throughout 2023 and 2024 to clear out existing stock. The company reported €650 million in revenue from Yeezy sales this year, demonstrating the continued demand for the iconic sneaker line. However, with no plans to produce new Yeezy designs, Adidas is moving forward without one of its most profitable collaborations.
Adidas’ CEO, Bjørn Gulden, stated that while Yeezy had been an important part of the company’s success in previous years, the brand is now focused on new projects and innovation. The company has shifted its attention toward its core sneaker lines, such as the Adidas Originals and the reinvention of classic models like the Samba and Gazelle, which have gained significant traction among consumers.
The financial impact of the split has been mixed. While Adidas saw a 12% overall increase in global sales in 2024, its North American market experienced a slight 2% decline, largely attributed to the loss of Yeezy’s influence. The brand is now working to regain momentum in the sneaker culture space through strategic collaborations with athletes and designers.
With the Yeezy era officially behind it, Adidas faces the challenge of maintaining its dominance in the sneaker market. Whether its new strategies will be able to replace the cultural and financial success of Yeezy remains to be seen.
