A Story Based on True Events

Don’t Forget Me is a powerful feature film based on true events, bearing witness to one of the darkest chapters of our time, the abduction of thousands of Kurdish Yezidi children and young women by ISIS, many of whom remain missing to this day. Their disappearance is not history. It is a living truth that continues to demand recognition and remembrance.

Defending Life, Identity, and Freedom

At its core, the film honors those who stood against terror when the cost was everything. The Kurdish Peshmerga, who defended their land, their people, and their dignity, are portrayed not as symbols, but as heroes, fighters whose courage, sacrifice, and resilience shaped survival itself. Their resistance stands as a testament to what it truly means to protect life, identity, and freedom.

Helly Luv: The Revolutionary Woman

Directed by Helly Luv, a Kurdish artist, activist, and revolutionary woman whose work has reached millions around the world, Don’t Forget Me is inseparable from its creator. Long before turning to cinema, Helly Luv confronted ISIS through her art. Her 2015 revolutionary music video Revolution directly challenged extremist ideology, earning her global recognition and a place among Foreign Policy’s 100 Global Thinkers, alongside world leaders including Angela Merkel, Vladimir Putin, and Pope Francis, honoring her courage in using art as a weapon against terror and in defense of women’s rights.

Courage Without Silence

That courage came with consequences, but it has never stopped her.

Helly Luv was targeted by ISIS for her work, yet she continues to stand, create, and speak.

Her revolutionary music video Revolution resonated far beyond borders, shared and discussed across countless international media outlets, including major television networks, global magazines, radio stations, and news platforms, amplifying a Kurdish woman’s voice that refused to be silenced. Through music and imagery, she confronted extremism head-on, using art as a powerful instrument for truth, resistance, and global awareness.

Beyond the spotlight, her commitment has always gone further. Throughout the war, Helly Luv has actively given back to those most affected, supporting refugee camps, helping orphans and displaced children, and advocating for vulnerable communities and animals caught in conflict. Her work has never been limited to performance or symbolism; it has been rooted in action, compassion, and responsibility.

Authenticity Through Real Locations

The feature film was shot in a real war-torn village where ISIS destroyed families and entire communities. Many of the Kurdish Peshmerga appearing in the film are real fighters, bringing lived experience and authenticity to the screen. The production committed to using real locations wherever possible, ensuring the story is told with honesty, respect, and truth.

Release & Impact

Don’t Forget Me will be released in the region at the end of this month, with a premiere on 29 January, followed by international distribution. A Testament to the Human Spirit

This is a story of the human spirit, of survival against impossible odds, of sacrifice made in silence, and of courage that endures long after the battle ends. It is a reminder that resistance takes many forms, and that some legacies are built by standing up, even when the cost is everything.

It is also a commitment to remember, to carry forward the stories of the Kurdish Yezidi children and young women whose lives were taken, but whose voices must never be erased. Through memory, their dignity endures. Through storytelling, their legacy lives on.
