Haitian-American composer and arts leader Kervy Delcy transforms creative industries through multidisciplinary approach and cultural bridge-building.

NATIONWIDE - OCTOBER 2025 - (USAnews.com) At five years old, Kervy Delcy stood defiant in a makeshift courtroom, refusing to remove her lawyer's robe long after the school performance had ended. She was convinced the law was her calling, until Sister Jeanne, a spirited nun with a gift for song and dance, awakened something deeper. That pivotal moment in a Catholic school classroom would reshape not just one young girl's destiny, but eventually transform how emerging artists access opportunities worldwide through her multimedia platform, Echelon Press.

Today, the Haitian-American composer, conductor, and visionary arts leader has built an empire that spans continents and disciplines, bridging cultures through music while empowering the next generation of creative voices.

From Dreams to Melodies: The Early Awakening

Delcy's artistic journey began with poetry at age five, when her mother recognized her natural gift for language. By nine, she was waking with fully formed melodies composed in her dreams, unaware she was developing what would become her signature songwriting ability. Her competitive spirit emerged at eleven when she began dominating local poetry and singing competitions, consistently claiming first place in poetry and second in singing.

"I not only compose and conduct, but also produce, write, and mentor, integrating diverse artistic and cultural influences to create experiences that are both innovative and deeply resonant," Delcy explains of her multidisciplinary approach.

Her versatility caught attention early when she joined AJAPDECH (Association of Young Actors and Producers for the Development of Haitian Culture), acting in the film "Amour et Contrainte." But it was her immigration to New York in 2012 that would truly catalyze her transformation from talented performer to industry visionary.

Building Bridges Across Disciplines

After arriving in New York, Delcy pursued performing arts studies at Rockland Community College before transferring to the City College of New York for a double major in music and theater with a creative writing minor. Her academic excellence earned recognition through the Outstanding Student Award from Rockland Community College in 2015 and High Academic Achievement Awards from City College in both 2018 and 2019.

The turning point came in 2017 with her compositional debut "Turning Tables," a short musical that marked her emergence in the New York music scene. This success led to the prestigious ASCAP: Louis Dreyfus Warner-Chappell City College scholarship and opened doors to mentorship with composer Harry Stafylakis.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, while many artists struggled to adapt, Delcy expanded her orchestration skills under French film composer Marie-Jeanne Séréro, professor at the Conservatoire de Paris. This period of intensive growth culminated in earning her MFA in Media Scoring from the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema in 2021.

The Echelon Press Revolution

Recognizing the challenges artists face in accessing opportunities and gaining visibility, Delcy founded Echelon Press Magazine and PR as CEO. This multimedia platform revolutionizes how excellence in performing arts is showcased, utilizing radio, interviews, Times Square and international billboards, press campaigns, and Wikipedia page creation for artists and businesses.

But Echelon Press represents just one facet of her expanding influence. As founder and president of Vox Feminarum, an international nonprofit organization, she's committed to showcasing women composers across vocal and instrumental genres through high-level performances, educational initiatives, and artistic collaborations. Her production of the inaugural Vox Feminarum concert at Carnegie Hall demonstrated her ability to translate vision into world-class reality.

In 2020, she launched the Kervy Delcy Performing Arts School (KDPAS), where she mentors and trains the next generation of young artists. The school reflects her belief that artistic excellence must be coupled with accessible education and mentorship opportunities.

Global Vision, Local Impact

Currently studying music composition at the Manhattan School of Music on a prestigious Presidential Scholarship, Delcy continues expanding her influence. As a fellowship composer with the American Opera Project's Composers & the Voice program (2023–2025), she's developing new operatic works while collaborating with leading vocalists and mentors.

Her global perspective, fueled by fluency in five languages with two more in progress, positions her uniquely in today's interconnected arts landscape. This multilingual ability enhances her work as a panelist for the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), where she reviews grant applications, directly impacting which artists receive crucial funding.

The development of Lié, her upcoming global app designed to connect musicians with arts-related jobs, grants, fellowships, and festivals, represents her most ambitious technological venture. This platform promises to democratize access to opportunities that have historically been available only through industry connections.

Recognition and Academic Excellence

Delcy's achievements span multiple prestigious institutions and recognition programs. Her academic journey includes degrees from Manhattan School of Music (MM in Composition), Brooklyn College (MFA in Media Scoring), Queens College (Post-Baccalaureate Advanced Certificate in Music Education), and The City College of New York (dual BA in Theater and Music with Creative Writing minor).

Her accolades include two Bronx Medals from the Global Music Awards, the Tow International Research Grant from Brooklyn College, and a grant from the James and Nicole Cho Foundation. These recognitions validate her unique approach to blending scholarship with creative practice.

Through intensive study in Paris under Dr. Philip Lasser at EAMA, Delcy continues expanding her compositional voice, which bridges cultures, styles, and traditions while maintaining deep emotional resonance.

The Future of Arts Leadership

What sets Delcy apart in the competitive arts landscape isn't just her multidisciplinary expertise—it's her commitment to systemic change. Through Vox Feminarum, Echelon Press, Kervy Delcy Performing Arts School, and Lady K Maison des Arts, she's building platforms that amplify underrepresented voices while fostering artistic excellence on the world stage.

Her work demonstrates that today's arts leaders must be more than talented creators; they must be visionaries who understand how to leverage technology, education, and global connectivity to expand opportunities for all artists.

For emerging artists seeking authentic mentorship, established performers looking for innovative platforms, or industry professionals wanting to connect with a leader who truly understands the intersection of artistry and entrepreneurship, Kervy Delcy's multifaceted approach offers both inspiration and practical pathways forward.
