Eastern Iowa, IA (USANews) – The Eastern Iowa Brain Injury Awareness Gala, founded by Danielle Brazant, aims to raise both awareness and funds for brain injury survivors and their families. After suffering a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in 2012, Brazant transformed her personal journey into a mission to give back to the cause that nearly claimed her life. Through her efforts, she founded the gala, which quickly became the highest-grossing fundraising event for the Brain Injury Association of America in its inaugural year. The 2025 edition of the gala is set to take place on Saturday, August 23rd, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with an even greater focus on growth, engagement, and impact.
Danielle Brazant, a Speaker, Writer, Sales Executive, and Brain Injury Survivor, is determined to change the landscape of brain injury awareness. She has been able to achieve a great deal of success when statistics for brain injury survivors continue to lag behind other groups. Her story is one of resilience and hope. After facing several years of physical, mental, and emotional challenges immediately following her TBI. Brazant wrote and self-published Maximizing Your Potential: How to Start the Journey Towards True Happiness in Life in 2018, offering a resource for others struggling with similar obstacles. However, it was her personal journey that led her to create the Eastern Iowa Brain Injury Awareness Gala, where she now works tirelessly to raise funds for the Cause of Brain Injury.
“Brain injury is a silent epidemic that often doesn't attract the same level of attention or support as diseases and injuries like ALS or cancer,” says Brazant. “Through the Gala, we hope to give brain injury survivors the resources and support they need, while also raising awareness in a way that has never been done before.”
What sets the Eastern Iowa Brain Injury Awareness Gala apart from other charitable events is its deep connection to the cause. As a TBI survivor herself, Brazant has a personal stake in the success of the gala, and that passion resonates throughout every detail of the event. The gala’s overwhelming success in its first year is a testament to Brazant's commitment to making a difference, as well as to the generosity of the local community. In addition to being the highest-grossing fundraiser for the Brain Injury Association of America in 2024, the event is unique in its approach to supporting brain injury survivors. It provides not only financial aid but also brings visibility to the struggles faced by those with brain injuries, offering a platform for survivors, caregivers, and advocates to connect, learn, and grow. The gala’s impact has been profound, and it is set to build on that success in the coming years.
“Last year’s gala was AMAZING! ! But we’re determined to make it even bigger and better every year thereafter,” says Brazant. “We are not only focused on continuing to raise funds, but also on increasing awareness of brain injury and its impact. This event is about more than just money; it’s about creating a lasting legacy of support and education.”

For those unable to attend the event, donations to support the cause are always welcome and can be made through the official GoFundMe page. For people who want to show support but may not live in Eastern Iowa.
