The Westerly Pewaukee Challenges Traditional Senior Living with Forward-Thinking Design and Engaging Activities
Apr 15, 2025

Pewaukee, WI – April 15, 2025 – The Westerly Pewaukee is challenging traditional perceptions of senior living by creating a community that celebrates the spirit of adventure and empowers residents to live life on their own terms. This approach is reflected in the community’s innovative design, engaging activities, and deep connection to the history and natural beauty of Lake Country.
Inspired by the free spirit of adventure found on and near the waters of Lake Country, The Westerly aims to cultivate a sense of freedom and exploration in its residents. The community's mission is to empower individuals to chart their own course, lead the life they desire, and share their experiences with friends, both new and old.
The Westerly’s logo, reminiscent of a boat in full sail, symbolizes this strong sense of freedom and history. The name itself evokes the golden era of family resort vacations, where lifelong memories were created. This connection to Pewaukee’s past is woven into every aspect of the community’s design and brand, bringing over a century of family fun and nostalgia to the forefront.
Design for Adventure and Connection
The architectural and interior design of The Westerly, by Galbraith Carnahan Architects and o&o studio respectively, prioritizes spaces that encourage social interaction and personal enrichment. Features like the Spinnaker Club Room, the Swan Tea Room, and rooftop terraces are designed to inspire residents to connect and participate in community life.
"We believe that the physical environment plays a crucial role in empowering our residents to embrace their adventurous spirit," says Mara Henningsen, Executive Director of The Westerly Pewaukee.
"Our spaces are designed to be both functional and inspiring, promoting a sense of community and encouraging active participation."
