The United States is back on top in women’s golf. In a dominant performance at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, the American team secured a 15½ to 12½ victory over Team Europe on September 14, reclaiming the Solheim Cup for the first time in seven years.

The win ended a two-tournament losing streak for the U.S. and restored the team’s status as one of the premier forces in international women’s golf. Led by captain Stacy Lewis, Team USA capitalized on its home-course advantage, with young stars and seasoned veterans delivering clutch performances throughout the three-day competition.

One of the defining moments of the final day came when Nelly Korda, the world’s No. 1-ranked player, sank a birdie putt on the 16th hole to win her singles match and put the Americans within striking distance of the cup. Rookie sensation Rose Zhang then delivered the final blow, securing the winning point in her singles match against Europe’s Charley Hull.

“This was a team effort from start to finish,” said captain Lewis. “Everyone stepped up when they needed to, and I couldn’t be prouder of how these ladies handled the pressure.”

Europe had entered the final day trailing by two points, needing a strong singles performance to complete a comeback. However, the Americans remained steady, winning key matchups and preventing the Europeans from gaining momentum. Despite a valiant effort from Celine Boutier and Leona Maguire, Team Europe was unable to overcome the deficit.

For Team USA, this victory marks a turning point after falling short in the last two Solheim Cups. With a young and talented roster, the Americans appear poised to dominate future competitions. Meanwhile, Team Europe will look to regroup and bounce back when the Solheim Cup returns to their home turf in 2026.

The triumph was met with celebrations on the 18th green, as the American players embraced their long-awaited victory. After years of frustration, the Solheim Cup is back in U.S. hands, and Team USA’s future has never looked brighter.
