Award-Winning Kolormondo: The Swedish 3D Color Globe Changing the Way We Learn Color

Recognized as the Best Color Education Tool USA 2026, Kolormondo's patented 3D color globe helps professionals and students master color.

Best of Best Review has named Kolormondo the Best Color Education Tool in the USA of 2026, recognizing the Swedish innovation for making color theory more visual, intuitive and practical through the world's first patented 3D color globe.

For decades, color education has relied on flat color wheels and printed charts. While these traditional tools explain hue, they often struggle to demonstrate how hue, value and chroma interact to create the colors we see. Kolormondo was developed to solve that challenge by transforming color theory into a three-dimensional learning experience.

Unlike a traditional flat color wheel, Kolormondo allows users to see, hold and rotate color relationships in three dimensions. Much like a globe makes geography easier to understand than a flat map, Kolormondo makes color relationships easier to visualize, explore and communicate.

Why 3D Makes the Difference

Traditional color wheels primarily illustrate hue, but they cannot fully visualize how hue, value and chroma interact.

Kolormondo enables users to explore hue, value and chroma simultaneously, making color relationships easier to understand through hands-on learning rather than memorization. By rotating the globe and viewing colors from every angle, learners quickly develop a deeper understanding of how color behaves.

From a Tangerine to Four Patents

The inspiration behind the invention came from a surprisingly simple question.

Inventor Nicoline Kinch wondered why two garments that were both labeled brown looked completely different when placed next to each other. Although fascinated by color, she realized she had never truly understood how colors relate to one another.

Everything changed in 2010 while attending a color theory workshop inspired by Johannes Itten's famous color star. During the course, the instructor explained how the traditional color star could be visualized as a sphere, with white at the North Pole, black at the South Pole and vibrant hues around the Equator.

There was just one problem. No such educational globe existed.

Determined to bring the idea to life, Nicoline built her very first prototype by attaching her hand-painted color star to an old tangerine. That handmade model eventually became Kolormondo, an invention now protected by four patents and used by educators and creative professionals around the world.

Trusted by Hair Color Professionals and Creative Educators

Today, Kolormondo is used across a wide range of creative disciplines. Universities, art schools, architects, graphic designers and fashion designers use the globe to better understand and communicate color relationships.

Kolormondo has gained particular recognition within professional hair color education, where salon academies, educators and colorists use it to explain color formulation, corrective color and advanced color communication in ways that traditional flat color wheels cannot.

The product has earned praise from respected voices in education and the creative industries.

Fritz Horstman, Education Director at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, describes its value: "A color globe such as Kolormondo is very helpful when thinking about color intervals or conceptualizing what the optical mixture of two colors might be. What's more, it's a beautiful object."

Ian Mayer Marszalek, Senior National Corporate Trainer at Schwarzkopf Professional, says: "I absolutely love the globes. They're perfect. We give them out at our color classes at our academy."
