From Repair Shop to Tech Ecosystem: Techwarrior
How one Minnesota veteran turned a computer repair shop into a small-business technology ecosystem, one problem at a time.

An Origin Built on Accountability
In 2007, Rod Rotzien came home from Iraq and took over a small computer repair business he had helped build alongside his best friend. He did not inherit an empire. He inherited a foundation and a conviction: people deserved honest technology help from someone who actually knew what they were doing.
Rotzien, a U.S. Army veteran, rebranded the shop as Techwarrior Technologies. The new name was deliberate. This was going to be done his way, with military-grade accountability and zero tolerance for the upselling, unnecessary repairs and condescending explanations that had become standard practice in the industry.
The timing was personal. Computer viruses were rampant in the mid-2000s, and Rotzien had seen firsthand how helpless people felt when their technology turned against them - and how few people in their communities could actually fix the problem without making things worse. He saw the gap clearly, and he had the skills to fill it.
Nineteen years later, that original conviction remains the foundation of everything the company has become. Reliable, honest technology help was difficult to find. Rotzien decided to be the exception.
One Problem Leading to the Next
What started with virus removal and computer repair in Richfield, Minnesota, has grown into Warrior Power Inc., an umbrella organization of technology and marketing brands serving consumers and small businesses across Minnesota and nationwide.
The family of companies now includes Techwarrior Technologies, the original flagship; Ironclad Managed IT, a flat-rate managed technology service for small businesses; BattleMap Local Marketing, a local SEO and web presence service; Minnesota Local Marketing, a free business directory; and Trust a Vet, a national directory connecting consumers with veteran-owned businesses.
There was never a grand plan to build a portfolio of brands. Instead, one problem kept leading to the next, and rather than continually referring those needs elsewhere, Rotzien began building solutions himself.
Customers needed better IT support, better marketing, better tools to understand their businesses and better ways to get discovered. When the right solution did not exist, Rotzien built it. The philosophy never changed: solve real problems, be accountable for the result and do not sell people things they do not need.

A Move, and a Partnership That Lasted
Rotzien moved his operation from Richfield to Rockford, Minnesota, in 2010. The decision was equal parts personal and strategic. Wright County and the west metro had a genuine need for reliable local technology services, and Rockford offered the kind of tight-knit community where a reputation built on trust could travel. It did.
Rather than leave his Twin Cities clients behind, Rotzien forged a partnership with Psinergy Tech, an established metro-based firm, to serve as a partner office. Clients who did not want to make the drive to Rockford could be referred there, ensuring continuity of service. The relationship became established enough that the companies adopted the joint Psinergy Techwarrior identity across several platforms.
The two firms have operated in tandem since 2010 - not as a franchise or subsidiary, but as independent companies that help cover gaps for one another and make sure clients are taken care of. The Rockford shop at 8046 State Highway 55 has remained the heart of Techwarrior's operation ever since, providing a consistent local presence through nearly two decades of technological change.
Recognized, Repeatedly
The market noticed early. In 2009, just two years after Rotzien rebranded the company, Techwarrior Technologies was featured on Fox 9.
Since 2016, the company has also received repeated recognition from Expertise.com for computer repair service in the Minneapolis market. Techwarrior holds an A+ BBB rating, has received Readers' Choice recognition and has served as a source for national and local media. The company also maintains a five-star Google rating.
To Rotzien, those are not simply vanity metrics. They are evidence that the company's original premise still works: do honest work, treat people well and let the reputation follow.
Building What Did Not Exist
What separates Rotzien from many small-business owners is not simply persistence. It is that he builds. Unable to find software that fit the way he wanted to run and measure his business, he began creating his own. CustomerTracker, a business metrics and cash-flow platform, grew out of his frustration with existing tools.
His marketing division, BattleMap Local Marketing, operates its own proprietary audit technology, distributes free WordPress tools to local business websites and has developed an AI-powered local SEO auditing system capable of generating branded client reports.
The philosophy is consistent throughout the organization: if the right tool does not exist, build it - whether that means software, a service or an entirely new business model.
The Veteran Thread
Running through all of it is a thread Rotzien does not necessarily lead with but has never hidden: the values carried forward from military service. Discipline. Accountability. Showing up. Not making excuses.
Trust a Vet, the national veteran-owned business directory he founded, reflects that philosophy directly. Rotzien believes veteran-owned businesses deserve visibility and that consumers who want to support them should have an easy way to find them.
Warrior Power Inc. remains firmly rooted in Rockford, Minnesota. It is also a family operation. Rotzien's children have worked in the business, while his wife, Jessica, leads its philanthropic and charitable efforts and helps direct the company's community-giving strategy. It is an organization that began when a veteran came home, took over a business he had helped build with a friend and decided he was not going to do anything halfway.
